Thu Apr 17 15:08:56 UTC 2025: ## New Land Act Promises Relief for Telangana Farmers
**MADDUR, NARAYANPET DISTRICT, TELANGANA –** The Telangana government launched its new Bhu Bharati Act, aiming to resolve land-related disputes across the state. Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced Thursday that the new portal will address all land issues, except those pending in civil courts, and will do so free of charge, unlike its predecessor, the Dharani Act.
The Bhu Bharati Act replaces the controversial Dharani Act, which the minister accused of being used by the previous BRS government to usurp land and create hardships for citizens. He urged opposition leaders to acknowledge the Congress government’s efforts to rectify the situation and praised the new Act’s potential to solve long-standing land issues.
The government plans to train 6,000 individuals as licensed private surveyors to map land holdings by next month. Advocate Sunil Kumar, involved in drafting the Bhu Bharati Act, highlighted key sections of the law that address common issues like misspelled names and incorrect survey numbers. He expressed optimism that all land-related issues will be resolved by August 15th.
The launch event, held in Khajipur village, included testimonials from villagers who detailed past struggles with land disputes under the previous administration. One ex-serviceman praised the new act for addressing these past grievances. The event also featured explanations of the Act’s key features by revenue officials and the setup of special counters to receive applications.
