Thu Apr 17 09:03:04 UTC 2025: ## Telangana Human Rights Commission Gets New Leadership

**Hyderabad, April 17, 2025** – Retired High Court Judge Justice Shameem Akther assumed the chairpersonship of the Telangana Human Rights Commission (THRC) today. The State government appointed Justice Akther and two other officials on April 11th. Sivadi Praveena, a retired Selection Grade District Judge, was appointed as the member (Judicial), and retired IAS officer B. Kishore was appointed as the member (Non-Judicial). All three assumed their posts today.

Immediately following their appointments, the new commissioners held a bench meeting to address approximately 300 pending cases involving alleged human rights violations. Justice Akther stated the Commission is committed to upholding the objectives of the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993, by prioritizing the protection and promotion of human rights within Telangana.
