Thu Apr 17 13:22:43 UTC 2025: ## Non-Invasive Treatment Offers Hope for Parkinson’s Patients

**Hyderabad, April 17, 2025** – A new non-invasive treatment for Parkinson’s disease is offering renewed hope to patients struggling with tremors and loss of motor control. KIMS Hospital in Hyderabad has introduced MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS), a procedure that uses high-intensity ultrasound waves guided by MRI to target affected areas of the brain. Unlike Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery, MRgFUS requires no incisions or anesthesia.

According to Dr. Manas Kumar Panigrahi, Chief Neurosurgeon at KIMS, the procedure can eliminate tremors in just a few hours. Patients often experience significant or complete tremor reduction immediately following the procedure. The progress is monitored live, making it a gentler alternative to surgery for those who don’t respond to medication. The hospital highlighted the treatment during a recent awareness program.
