**Hyderabad, April 17, 2025** – The Tarnaka junction in Hyderabad, closed to traffic for almost a decade, will reopen on a trial basis from April 18 to May 2, the Hyderabad Traffic Police announced today. The reopening will allow vehicles to travel between Osmania University and Lalapet, but with some restrictions.
According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Joel Davis, vehicles from Osmania University will be able to proceed straight towards Lalapet or turn right towards Habsiguda. Similarly, vehicles from Lalapet can go straight to Osmania University or turn right towards Mettuguda.
However, right turns from Mettuguda towards Osmania University and from Habsiguda towards Lalapet will be prohibited. Vehicles from these areas will need to take alternative routes involving U-turns to reach their destinations.
The trial period aims to assess the feasibility of permanently reopening the junction and improving traffic flow. The Traffic Police have urged commuters to cooperate and follow signage during this time to avoid any inconvenience. The police will monitor the situation closely to evaluate the effectiveness of the changes.
