Thu Apr 17 15:50:00 UTC 2025: ## BJP Demands Transparency from Congress, AIMIM on Waqf Board Funds
**Hyderabad, April 17, 2025** – The BJP’s Telangana state president and Union Minister of Coal & Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, today demanded transparency from Congress and AIMIM leaders regarding the utilization of Waqf Board funds over the past 75 years. Reddy accused Congress and AIMIM leaders of using Waqf Board lands for political gain and launched a scathing attack, alleging misuse of the 77,000 acres and 35,000 properties under the Telangana Waqf Board’s control.
Addressing a meeting to promote the new Waqf Act, Reddy challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi to reveal the revenue generated and how many poor Muslims have benefited from the board. He claimed the Opposition is spreading misinformation about the act to incite communal tensions and gain political mileage.
Reddy highlighted that while Waqf Boards nationwide control 4.9 lakh acres, their total income in 2013 was a mere ₹166 crore. He asserted that digitization and proper audits could generate ₹12,000 crore annually. He also accused political and religious leaders of misappropriating funds intended for community development, citing the construction of community halls under fake names as an example. He emphasized that mosques are not under the Waqf Act’s purview, differentiating them from temple committees and endowment lands.
Despite claims by the Union Minister that most Muslims welcome the new Waqf Act, Reddy alleged that the Opposition is attempting to create religious conflict. The BJP is actively promoting the Act through a state-wide outreach program.
