CHENNAI, April 17, 2025 – The Tamil Nadu government announced plans Thursday to significantly boost its tourism sector through public-private partnerships (PPPs). Tourism Minister R. Rajendran revealed initiatives including the development of theme parks near Hogenakkal Falls and Mukkombu, improvements to water sports infrastructure in several coastal locations, and the establishment of Buddhist and Jain cultural centers in Kancheepuram and Madurai, respectively. The government will also invest ₹100 crore in overall tourism infrastructure development, with a focus on improving facilities in the Nilgiris district and exploring the feasibility of rope cars in Yercaud and Yelagiri.
