Thu Apr 17 15:24:40 UTC 2025: ## Former Bureaucrat Questions Land Deal Between Karnataka Government and TCS

**Visakhapatnam, April 17, 2025** – A former bureaucrat, E.A.S. Sarma, has demanded transparency regarding a land deal between the Karnataka government and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). In a letter to Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand, Sarma questioned the allocation of land to TCS at a price of 99 paise per acre, alleging that the land’s actual value should exceed ₹320 crore based on government rates.

Sarma highlighted a 2012 government order (G.O.Ms 571) stating that government land should not be allotted to private companies at less than 10% of the market rate, with leases renewed every three years. He claims this order was not followed in the TCS deal. He further demanded the government disclose the agreement’s details, particularly concerning employment opportunities for local youth, citing past instances where companies acquired land cheaply without fulfilling employment commitments to the local population. Sarma urged the government to reconsider the land valuation and withdraw its decision.
