TALLAHASSEE, FL – Florida State redshirt quarterback Trever Jackson announced his intention to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to On3 reporting. Jackson, a former three-star recruit and the No. 621 overall prospect in the 2021 class, will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Jackson chose Florida State over several Power Five programs including Ole Miss, Missouri, Texas A&M, and UCLA, citing the Seminoles’ coaching style and the playing style of former quarterback Jordan Travis as key factors in his initial decision. However, he spent the majority of his freshman season on the scout team, making only one appearance in a game against Charleston Southern, where he completed one pass for two yards.

The move comes as Florida State’s quarterback room is undergoing a significant reshuffle. Coach Mike Norvell added quarterback Thomas Castellanos from Boston College via the transfer portal and also secured the commitment of true freshman Kevin Sperry. Norvell recently praised Castellanos’ performance in spring practice. With the addition of these players, Jackson’s playing time appeared limited.
