Wed Apr 16 14:29:30 UTC 2025: ## BJP Protests Soaring Prices in Belagavi, Accuses Karnataka Government of Appeasement

**Belagavi, Karnataka, April 16, 2025** – The BJP staged a major protest rally, the “Janakrosha Yatre,” in Belagavi today, condemning the Karnataka state government’s handling of rising essential commodity prices and accusing it of Muslim appeasement.

Hundreds of BJP leaders and workers, including state president B.Y. Vijayendra, Leader of the Opposition R. Ashok, and MP Jagadish Shettar, marched from Basaveshwar Circle to Shivaji Park, shouting slogans against the ruling Congress party.

Vijayendra criticized the state budget, highlighting schemes for Muslim contractors and students while alleging a lack of similar initiatives for Hindus. He declared the Congress government’s popularity is dwindling and predicted a BJP victory in the 2028 elections.

Ashok went further, accusing the Congress of attempting to create a “mini-Pakistan” through appeasement policies and inaction against criminal elements within the Muslim community. He also criticized the state’s caste census, claiming it is being used to divide society by highlighting the Muslim population while downplaying the larger Scheduled Caste population. He suggested a foreign hand was involved in these alleged conspiracies and accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of corruption.

Former Minister Chalavadi Narayanaswamy dismissed recent claims by Congress leaders that B.R. Ambedkar blamed V.D. Savarkar and others for his defeat as false.

The protest underscores growing tensions between the BJP and the Congress government in Karnataka, with the BJP capitalizing on public discontent over rising prices and accusations of divisive policies.
