**Hyderabad, April 17, 2025** – Telangana state is grappling with a severe heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 43° Celsius in several districts. Adilabad recorded the highest temperature at 43.3°C, followed by Nizamabad at 43°C. A total of 17 districts experienced temperatures exceeding 40°C, while another 16 reported temperatures between 37°C and 40°C. Hyderabad itself reached a high of 39.6°C.

In response to the extreme heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a thunderstorm warning for Friday, April 18, for 17 districts. The warning predicts thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in several regions. Hyderabad is expected to experience partly cloudy skies and hazy mornings for the next 48 hours, with temperatures remaining around 39°C. The IMD’s forecast offers some relief from the oppressive heat, but residents are urged to take precautions against the continuing high temperatures.
