KOCHI, INDIA – Actor Shine Tom Chacko evaded a police raid at his hotel in North Kochi on Wednesday night. The actor, who was reportedly being investigated in connection with a drug-related case and allegations of misconduct on a film set, escaped the Dance-SAF (a special anti-narcotics force) team by climbing down three floors from his hotel room window, using sheets and then jumping into a swimming pool. CCTV footage of his escape has been released.
Despite the ongoing police search, Chacko remains active on his Instagram account, sharing stories, including one seemingly mocking the incident. His brother, Jo Kuttan, is quoted as saying to a news channel that Shine’s escape was nothing more than participation in a “Run Kochi Run” type event, a statement that was later shared on Chacko’s Instagram story by director Rafnas Rafik. Chacko also shared a poster celebrating his film “Abhilashyam” completing 20 days in theaters. It’s unclear if he’s personally managing his social media accounts.
The Dance-SAF team’s visit to the hotel was reportedly prompted by an investigation into another individual, with Chacko being incidentally involved. The police arrived at approximately 10:30 PM and attempted to contact Chacko, but he failed to respond before his dramatic escape. The incident follows allegations made by actress Vincy Aloshius about misconduct by a lead actor who allegedly used drugs on set. While the actress’s statement didn’t name Chacko explicitly, it is understood to have been a contributing factor to the investigation.
