Rajapalayam, April 16, 2025 – Police in Rajapalayam have arrested three individuals – a wife, daughter, and brother-in-law – in connection with the murder of a 55-year-old milk farmer, A. Subramanian. The accused, identified as Eswari (50), her daughter Devayani (28), and Eswari’s brother Selvakumar (45), initially claimed Subramanian had committed suicide following a domestic dispute.
However, an investigation launched by the police, led by Additional Superintendent of Police K. Ashokan, under the instructions of Superintendent of Police D. Kannan, uncovered inconsistencies. Suspicious external injuries on Subramanian’s body prompted a deeper inquiry, leading to confessions from Eswari and Devayani.
According to police reports, Devayani, a mother of two, had been estranged from her husband and living with her parents. A heated argument with her father over this issue escalated into violence. Eswari allegedly attacked Subramanian with an iron rod. When he remained defiant, the trio, including Selvakumar, strangled him to death, staging the scene to look like a suicide. All three are currently in custody.
