**Thiruvananthapurm, Kerala – April 16, 2025** – A two-month-long anti-narcotics operation, Operation D-Hunt, has resulted in significant arrests and drug seizures in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Between February 22nd and April 13th, city police registered 488 cases and arrested 501 individuals involved in drug-related offenses. The operation yielded nearly 123 grams of MDMA, over 14 kilograms of ganja, and 9.83 grams of hashish oil.
The crackdown targeted both large-scale trafficking operations and street-level dealing. Police focused on dismantling supply chains, intercepting inter-state smugglers, and increasing surveillance in educational institutions, tourist areas, and nightlife venues. Inspections of commercial establishments, including spas and massage parlours, also uncovered illegal activity, leading to further arrests.
While District Police Chief Thomson Jose acknowledged the progress, he highlighted the ongoing challenges posed by porous state borders and evolving drug trafficking tactics. The police are collaborating with Thiruvananthapuram Rural police and the Excise department, sharing intelligence and monitoring known offenders. The deployment of rapid drug screening kits, procured under the Smart City Project, has aided the efforts.
Increased night-time inspections and stricter regulations on bars, clubs, and DJ venues have also been implemented. The police emphasize that Operation D-Hunt is ongoing and committed to curbing the flow of narcotics into the city.
