Tue Apr 15 15:57:01 UTC 2025: ## Maharashtra Coalition Government Downplays Internal Disputes
**Mumbai, April 15, 2025** – Senior BJP leader and Maharashtra Minister Chandrakant Patil dismissed reports of friction within the ruling Mahayuti alliance on Tuesday. Patil attributed any disagreements to the inherent differences within a coalition government formed from diverse political backgrounds.
His comments follow speculation that Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde voiced concerns to Union Home Minister Amit Shah regarding his fellow Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar. Patil likened the situation to familial disagreements, emphasizing that some level of friction is normal in a coalition.
The Mahayuti alliance, comprising the BJP, the Shinde faction of the Shiv Sena, and Ajit Pawar’s NCP faction, won a decisive victory in December’s Assembly elections. However, the power-sharing arrangement saw Shinde, the former Chief Minister, assume a deputy role under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Reported tensions stem from Fadnavis reversing some decisions made during Shinde’s previous tenure. Patil asserted that the diverse ideologies represented within the coalition inevitably lead to some “noise,” but that this is a sign of a healthy functioning government.
