**Bengaluru, April 16, 2025** – Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has strongly condemned the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) charge sheet against Congress leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, calling it another example of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s “vindictive politics.”
In a statement released today, Siddaramaiah asserted that the charges, related to the National Herald case, are baseless and represent a broader attempt to suppress dissent and intimidate opposition parties. He accused the Modi government of misusing the ED as a political tool to target its opponents.
“This is not merely an act of retribution against two leaders,” Siddaramaiah stated. “It’s a warning to all citizens who believe in democracy that dissent will not be tolerated.”
He further alleged that the ED acted on the direct instructions of Modi and Shah, launching the investigation based on fabricated allegations of financial irregularities. Siddaramaiah pledged that the Congress party would fight back, calling on all citizens who value democracy to join the resistance against this “authoritarianism.” He vowed that Congress workers would take to the streets to protest.
