Tue Apr 15 19:27:43 UTC 2025: ## Drunk Father-Son Duo Attack Police Constable During Ambedkar Jayanti Celebrations

**Chennai, April 16, 2025** – A police constable was assaulted by a father and son in Velachery on Monday morning during Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations. Constable T. Kamaraj, 34, was regulating traffic near Gandhi Salai when he stopped a motorcycle driven by 33-year-old G. Preethiban, a member of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK). Preethiban and his father, 55-year-old C. Ganesan, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, attacked Kamaraj after an argument ensued.

The assault occurred while Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian was attending an event in the area. Both men were arrested on Tuesday and remanded in judicial custody. Constable Kamaraj sustained injuries during the attack.
