Wed Apr 16 04:34:19 UTC 2025: ## BEMUL Reports Record Profits, Plans Mega Dairy Expansion

**Belagavi, Karnataka – April 16, 2025** – The Belagavi District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Union (BEMUL) announced record profits of ₹13.20 crore for the last fiscal year, a significant increase from ₹68 lakh the previous year. This marks an unprecedented achievement since the union’s establishment in 1985, according to Chairman Balachandra Jarkiholi.

Jarkiholi attributed the success to improved fiscal management, eliminating unnecessary expenses, and a corruption-free administration. The union’s total turnover reached ₹399.50 crore, exceeding last year’s ₹320.83 crore. These profits will be reinvested in the union’s infrastructure and distributed among farmers and employees.

BEMUL’s initiatives include establishing 43 new milk producer associations, increasing daily milk procurement by 22% to 2.10 lakh kg, and providing insurance to 12,797 cows. The union also boasts significant sales of milk, ghee, curd, paneer, and kunda, reaching both local and neighboring state markets. A new 10-kg bucket yogurt product has also been launched.

Looking ahead, BEMUL is seeking land to establish a ₹350 crore high-tech mega dairy. However, the union is awaiting the release of ₹9 crore in production incentives from the Karnataka government, which are currently outstanding. The union currently operates 610 milk producer cooperatives, including 160 women’s societies, across Belagavi district.
