Wed Apr 16 13:35:11 UTC 2025: ## Indian Farmers’ Group Condemns US Trade Pressure, Anti-Naxal Operations

**NAGAPATTINAM, April 16, 2025** – The All India Kisan Sabha (AIKS), at its 30th national conference, strongly condemned US trade policies impacting Indian agriculture and the Indian government’s anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh.

The AIKS criticized the US for imposing tariffs on Indian goods and pushing for the import of subsidized, genetically modified (GMO) American agricultural products. The group argued this threatens India’s food sovereignty and the livelihoods of small farmers. They reiterated India’s right to regulate agricultural trade within WTO norms, including maintaining tariffs, banning GMOs, and enforcing food safety standards. The AIKS urged the central government to resist trade concessions detrimental to domestic producers and to fight for the restoration of preferential trade access.

Furthermore, the AIKS denounced anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh, claiming they have led to displacement, violence, and land acquisition under the guise of peace restoration, ultimately benefitting mining and corporate interests.
