Tue Apr 15 18:04:21 UTC 2025: ## Woman Dies After Alleged Arson Attack in Karnataka

**KASARAGODA, KARNATAKA –** A 27-year-old woman, Ramitha, succumbed to her injuries on Monday night, April 14th, after being allegedly set on fire inside her shop in Mannadukka, Kasaragoda. The accused, Ramavrutham, a Tamil Nadu native and owner of a nearby furniture shop, is in police custody.

The attack occurred on April 8th at approximately 3:15 p.m. Police believe Ramavrutham retaliated after being asked to vacate the premises following complaints from Ramitha about his disruptive behavior while under the influence of alcohol. Ramitha was initially treated at Kanhangad District Hospital before being transferred to a Mangaluru hospital due to the severity of her burns.

Following the incident, Ramavrutham attempted to flee but was apprehended by locals and bus staff before being handed over to Bedakam police. Ramitha’s eight-year-old son and a classmate, who were present during the attack, sustained minor injuries.

Police have stated that murder charges will be filed against Ramavrutham. Ramitha’s body was sent to Kannur Government Medical College for a post-mortem examination.
