**Hyderabad, April 15, 2025** – A 10-second video showing an inmate at Chanchalguda Central Prison making theatrical gestures during a visitor’s session has gone viral, exposing a major security breach. The video, recorded by a friend of the inmate, Mohd. Fasal Ullah Faizan (21), shows Ahmed Bin Hassan Al Jabri (Ahmed Jabri) appearing to make gun-like gestures behind a glass partition while on a phone call. Faizan has been booked by the Dabeerpura police following a complaint by jail authorities. Two constables and a deputy jailor have also received show-cause notices for their alleged role in the incident.
Jabri, who has been arrested six times in the past three years for various offenses but not yet convicted, was lodged at Chanchalguda on April 11th in connection with an extortion case. Faizan smuggled a mobile phone into the prison, bypassing security protocols.
A senior jail official highlighted the systemic issues involved, stating that the revolving-door nature of the justice system, with repeat offenders frequently released on bail, contributes to the problem. The official also pointed to limitations in controlling inmates in “safe judicial custody,” noting the lack of a detailed manual regulating visitors in petty cases. The incident underscores concerns about lax enforcement of prison protocols and the ability of inmates to engage in such actions even while incarcerated.
