**COLLEGE STATION, TX** – Keyshawn Murphy, a highly efficient forward who played a key role for Mississippi State, has entered the NCAA transfer portal for the second time in as many years. This time, Texas A&M is reportedly among the schools vying for his services.
Murphy, a 6-foot-10 junior, averaged 11.7 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in just 24 minutes per game last season for the Bulldogs, shooting 56 percent from the field. He showcased his ability against top competition, including a standout performance against then-No. 20 Pitt and a strong showing against eventual national champion Florida. Despite limited three-point shooting, he was a dominant force in the paint, recording double figures in 21 of his 34 appearances. He also led Mississippi State in blocks.
Texas A&M, facing roster needs due to the recent transfer portal activity and a legal settlement impacting compensation, is actively pursuing Murphy. Coach Bucky McMillan acknowledged the Aggies’ need to fill roster spots and indicated that Murphy’s size and production make him a valuable target. Other SEC schools, including Alabama, Auburn, and Ole Miss, are also reportedly interested. Murphy previously explored the transfer portal last year before ultimately returning to Mississippi State.
