**Bengaluru, April 15, 2025** – The Sri Jayarama Seva Mandali, a pillar of Bengaluru’s cultural scene, is celebrating its 60th anniversary with a vibrant Sri Ramotsava festival. For six decades, the Mandali has provided a platform for renowned and emerging artists in music, dance, and discourses, fostering a rich artistic legacy in the city.
Founded in 1965 with the instrumental support of Kannada writer G Venkatasubbiah, the Mandali initially hosted Ramayana recitations and concerts. It quickly became a venue for prominent artists like Balamurali Krishna and R.K. Srikantan, showcasing a diverse range of performances that cemented its reputation. The Mandali has also expanded its reach, publishing nearly two dozen books on music and culture, including a newly released illustrated Ramayana.
This year’s Ramotsava, running from April 6th to 21st, features a stellar lineup. Hindustani vocalist Pt Nagaraj Rao Havaldar praised the Mandali’s dedication, emphasizing the importance of supporting such organizations that prioritize art. Carnatic vocalists G Ravi Kiran and Ranjani Vasuki, along with others, will perform a variety of traditional and contemporary pieces. Ranjani Vasuki’s performance will blend traditional Carnatic compositions with bhajans and film hits, reflecting the festival’s devotional theme.
The festival is free and open to the public, showcasing the Mandali’s commitment to making art accessible to all. The Mandali’s ongoing youth talent series further exemplifies its dedication to nurturing the next generation of artists. The event serves as a testament to the Mandali’s enduring contribution to Bengaluru’s cultural landscape and its ongoing mission of promoting traditional values through art.
