Tue Apr 15 05:15:08 UTC 2025: ## BJP’s Nagenthran Plays Down Tensions, Focuses on 2026 Tamil Nadu Polls
**Chennai, April 15, 2025** – Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagenthran has downplayed concerns about potential friction within the newly formed AIADMK-BJP alliance ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. In an interview with PTI, Nagenthran addressed questions regarding seat allocation with allies Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and OPS, stating that the decision would be a collaborative effort between the AIADMK and BJP leadership. He confirmed that discussions on seat sharing will involve both parties’ parliamentary boards.
Nagenthran also addressed comparisons with his predecessor, K. Annamalai, emphasizing his own effective articulation of BJP policies despite a different leadership style. He praised Annamalai’s contributions to the party’s growth in Tamil Nadu. While acknowledging Annamalai’s previous statements supporting allies like TTV Dhinakaran, Nagenthran reiterated that the final decision on seat allocation rests with the BJP and AIADMK leadership.
He dismissed Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s dismissal of the alliance as a failure, confidently predicting a victory for the NDA. Regarding actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party’s participation, Nagenthran stated that while the alliance with AIADMK is newly formed, consideration of other parties will take place in due course. He also refuted claims of lingering bitterness among AIADMK cadres due to past comments by Annamalai. Nagenthran’s main focus, he reiterated, is on unseating the DMK government in 2026.
