Mon Apr 14 16:04:44 UTC 2025: ## Tamil Nadu Minister Distributes ₹8.27 Crore in Welfare Measures on Equality Day
**Madurai, April 14, 2025** – Tamil Nadu Minister for Information Technology and Digital Services, Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, distributed welfare measures worth ₹8.27 crore to 1,164 beneficiaries in Madurai on Monday, marking Equality Day, which commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The event, organized per a Tamil Nadu government order, saw the distribution of funds across various departments. The Adi Dravidar and Tribals Welfare department provided ₹75.75 lakh to 79 beneficiaries, while TAHDCO disbursed ₹75.06 lakh to 140. The Mahalir Thittam received ₹56.50 lakh, benefiting 43 individuals, and PACB provided ₹64.51 lakh to 101 beneficiaries. Further assistance was distributed through the DIC, Agricultural Department, Horticulture Department, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board, Department of Welfare of Differently Abled Persons, Revenue Department, and Madurai Corporation, totaling millions more in aid.
In a separate event, Minister Thiaga Rajan distributed food and ORS powder to approximately 4,334 sanitation workers across five zones in Madurai. Minister for Commercial Taxes and Registration P. Moorthy, District Collector M. S. Sangeetha, and Corporation Commissioner Chitra Vijayan were among those present at the events.
