**Visakhapatnam, April 14, 2025** – Visakhapatnam observed the 135th birth anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with a series of tributes and events on Monday. Government officials, educational institutions, industries, and social organizations participated in the commemorations.

The day’s events included the garlanding of Dr. Ambedkar’s statues and portraits across the city. GVMC Mayor Hari Venkata Kumari and Collector M.N. Harendhira Prasad led the tributes, highlighting Dr. Ambedkar’s contributions to uplifting marginalized communities. Andhra University’s vice-chancellor also paid homage on the university campus.

Several organizations demonstrated their respect through various initiatives. The Visakhapatnam Port Authority announced the renaming of the old DCI Building as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Bhavan. The Dredging Corporation of India Limited organized student competitions and a blood donation camp. Andhra University’s Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Chair held a two-week capacity-building program focused on “One India through Digital India.” RINL-VSP, KGH, and VIMS also participated in the commemorations. The EPDCL CMD, I. Prudhvitej, also participated in the celebrations.
