Tue Apr 15 17:28:27 UTC 2025: **Bengaluru Police Bust Major Drug Rings, Seize ₹6.5 Crore Worth of Narcotics**
**Bengaluru, April 15, 2025** – The Central Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Wing has made significant strides in cracking down on drug trafficking in Bengaluru, seizing a total of ₹6.5 crore worth of narcotics in the past week. In the most significant bust, police arrested a 25-year-old Kerala-based civil engineer, Jiju Prasad, and confiscated 3.5 kilograms of hydroponic ganja valued at ₹4.5 crore. Prasad, who worked for a private firm in Bommasandra, used a “drop location” method to distribute the drugs to a large clientele, primarily IT professionals in Electronic City and Bommasandra, via a WhatsApp group. Police are now searching for his supplier, Ashwin Samuel, who remains at large.
In a separate operation, a Ugandan national, Nakubure Teopista (30), was arrested for peddling MDMA, leading to the apprehension of two local Bengaluru peddlers who revealed her connection to the network. This arrest followed a raid conducted by Kerala police in Malappuram, highlighting the increasing interstate nature of drug trafficking. To counter this trend, Kerala authorities have implemented heightened security measures at state borders.
Adding to the week’s successes, a 44-year-old Nigerian national, Christian S., was apprehended in Begur after police discovered 1 kg of MDMA crystals worth ₹2 crore in his possession. Christian S., who had overstayed his visa since 2012, will face charges under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and faces deportation. The ongoing investigations highlight the significant challenge posed by international drug trafficking rings operating in the region.
