**SHIVAMOGGA, April 15, 2025** – Bhadravati police arrested Nasru alias Nasrulla, 21, a suspect in a ganja (cannabis) case, after shooting him during an attempted escape. Nasrulla, who had been absconding since Monday’s arrest of four others in connection with the seizure of 1.4 kg of ganja, allegedly attacked police with a dagger and a country-made pistol.
Acting on a tip-off, police located Nasrulla on Tuesday morning. When he resisted arrest and attempted to flee, PSI Chandrasekhar fired a warning shot before apprehending him. Nasrulla, who has five other cases pending against him, was treated for injuries at a hospital. Police recovered the pistol. Shivamogga SP G.K. Mithun Kumar confirmed the incident.
