Tue Apr 15 11:41:23 UTC 2025: ## CPI Slams AIADMK’s Alliance with BJP as Betrayal of Tamil Nadu

**Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu – April 15, 2025** – The Communist Party of India (CPI) has accused the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) of betraying the people of Tamil Nadu by forming an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). CPI State Secretary R. Mutharasan stated that AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s decision to align with the BJP contradicts his earlier public statements denying any such alliance.

Mutharasan, speaking to reporters in Nagapattinam on Monday, claimed that Palaniswami’s acceptance of the alliance, and his subsequent defense of it, demonstrates a disregard for the wishes of the Tamil Nadu populace. He further alleged that the AIADMK’s decision stemmed from fear of Enforcement Directorate (ED) action rather than genuine political conviction, suggesting even party members are hesitant to embrace the alliance.

While commenting on a recent controversy involving Minister K. Ponmudy, Mutharasan acknowledged the Tamil cultural tradition of accepting apologies, indicating his respect for Ponmudy’s expression of remorse. However, the core of his criticism remained firmly focused on the AIADMK’s shift towards the BJP.
