Mon Apr 14 22:06:00 UTC 2025: ## NCP Leader Criticizes Maharashtra CM’s Appointment of Chief Economic Advisor

**Mumbai, April 15, 2025** – Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Rohit Pawar has strongly criticized the appointment of Praveen Pardeshi as Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Pawar alleges that this appointment is an attempt by Fadnavis to usurp the powers of the finance department, currently headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.

The newly appointed CEA will be responsible for preparing reports on state finances, collaborating with NITI Aayog, and promoting green energy initiatives as part of the state’s 2047 vision roadmap. However, Pawar contends that this role will effectively place all policy and administrative decisions under the Chief Minister’s control through the CEA.

Pawar accused Fadnavis of exhibiting an “authoritarian” tendency, interfering not only in Ajit Pawar’s finance ministry but also previously in Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s department. He argued that such centralization of power undermines the principles of democratic governance and efficient teamwork. He urged Fadnavis to adopt a more decentralized approach for the benefit of Maharashtra.

Pawar further commented on the BJP’s relationship with its allies, characterizing it as one of “temporary convenience” where allies are discarded once their usefulness expires. He expressed regret that BJP’s allies often fail to recognize this reality until it is too late.
