Mon Apr 14 15:40:16 UTC 2025: ## Karnataka Truckers Stage Indefinite Strike Over Diesel Price Hike

**Bengaluru, April 14, 2025** – A massive indefinite strike by truck operators across Karnataka has brought the state’s transportation of goods to a near standstill. The strike, launched at midnight on Monday, is in protest against a recent diesel price hike and high toll charges.

The Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents’ Association (FKSLOA), representing approximately six lakh trucks, is spearheading the protest. FKSLOA president G.R. Shanmugappa stated that the strike will continue until the government reverses the diesel price increase, which rose by ₹2.05 per litre following a sales tax increase from 18.44% to 21.17% on April 1st.

The strike affects all goods carriers except milk delivery vehicles. Transportation of fuel, LPG, construction materials, and other essentials is severely impacted. Over 60 transport associations from 24 states have pledged support, with trucks from those states refusing entry into Karnataka.

Key demands include the complete removal of toll collection within the state, dismantling of RTO check posts at state borders, and the withdrawal of a ₹15,000 fee for vehicle fitness certificate renewal. While the strike receives moral support from cab drivers, regular cab services in Bengaluru are expected to continue unaffected.
