Mon Apr 14 15:57:23 UTC 2025: **Madurai Revenue Officials Assaulted by BJP Functionaries During Land Survey**

MADURAI, Tamil Nadu – April 15, 2025 – Revenue officials in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, were allegedly assaulted and threatened by BJP functionaries on Saturday while conducting a land survey for the state government’s free patta scheme. The Tamil Nadu Revenue Officers’ Association (TNROA) strongly condemned the incident.

According to the TNROA, Madurai Revenue Division Officer R. D. Shalini, Madurai North Tehsildar Masthan Kani, and other officials were conducting a survey in Anaiyur village when they were confronted by former BJP district president Harichandran, along with Gnanamani and Rupesh. The BJP functionaries allegedly verbally abused the officials, physically obstructed their work, and attempted to seize a mobile phone being used to record the incident. They also issued threats regarding the consequences of continuing the survey.

The TNROA has demanded immediate police intervention and security for government officials carrying out their duties. A complaint has been filed with the City Police Commissioner J. Loganathan, urging the arrest of the accused. The Koodal Pudur police have registered a case against Harichandran, Gnanamani, and Rupesh under sections 296(b), 126(2), and 132 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for obscene acts, wrongful restraint, and assaulting a public servant. However, the accused remain at large.
