**Hyderabad, April 14, 2025** – The Telangana government has officially implemented the Telangana Scheduled Castes (Rationalisation of Reservations) Act, 2025, releasing detailed rules for its execution. The new rules sub-categorize the existing 15% SC reservation quota for public appointments and educational institutions.

One percent of the quota is allocated to Group-I SC sub-castes, nine percent to Group-II, and five percent to Group-III. If qualified candidates are unavailable within a specific group, vacancies will be filled from the next group in order. Unfilled vacancies will be carried forward, and will not be filled by candidates from other communities. The existing one-third reservation for women within the SC quota remains unchanged.

The new rules will not apply to appointments or admissions processes already underway before the Act’s commencement, nor will they affect Central Government departments, corporations, or institutions. The government retains the authority to issue further clarifications to ensure smooth implementation.
