Mon Apr 14 01:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Ganguly Re-elected as ICC Men’s Cricket Committee Chairman

**Dubai:** Sourav Ganguly, former Indian cricket captain, has been reappointed as the chairman of the ICC Men’s Cricket Committee. The decision was made during the ICC’s annual general meeting in Dubai. VVS Laxman, another former Indian cricketer, will continue as a member of the committee. Other members include Desmond Haynes (West Indies), Hamid Hassan (Afghanistan), Graeme Smith (South Africa), and Jonathan Trott (England). Ganguly assumed the role in 2021, succeeding Anil Kumble.

The ICC also announced the formation of a task force to support Afghan women cricketers. The Taliban’s ban on women’s sports has left the Afghan women’s cricket team effectively disbanded, with many players seeking refuge in countries like Australia. This task force, supported by the cricket boards of India, Australia, and England, aims to assist both current players and aspiring Afghan female cricketers. The women’s committee, led by Catherine Campbell (New Zealand), includes Avril Fahey (Australia) and Moseki (South Africa).
