**Anakapalli, Andhra Pradesh –** Eight people died in a firecracker factory explosion in Kailasapatnam, Anakapalli district, on Monday. Police have launched a thorough investigation into the incident, forming six teams to determine the cause of the blast.

According to Superintendent of Police Tuhin Sinha, the factory held a valid license until 2026 and appeared to have safety measures in place, including fire extinguishers and warning signs. However, the investigation will focus on whether the factory adhered to regulations regarding building materials and worker training. Samples have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory to determine if the factory exceeded permitted storage limits.

The explosion occurred during production, police said. While there are 21 licensed firecracker units in Anakapalli district, regular inspections are conducted jointly by police, fire services, and other relevant departments. The police have registered cases under relevant sections of the Explosives Substance Act and other applicable laws. The investigation is ongoing, and stringent action will be taken against those responsible if negligence is found.
