Mon Apr 14 15:50:00 UTC 2025: ## LSG’s Thakur Slams Commentators, Defends Bowling Attack’s Performance

**Lucknow, India** – Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star Shardul Thakur has fired back at cricket commentators for their criticism of the team’s bowling performance, arguing that they fail to account for the evolving nature of the game.

Thakur, who joined LSG as a replacement for Mohsin Khan and currently sits second in the Purple Cap race with 11 wickets in 6 matches, spoke out after LSG’s victory over Gujarat Titans. He highlighted the increasing frequency of 200+ scores, stating that the current context needs to be considered when assessing bowling performances.

“A lot of times in commentary, there’s criticism – they try to be hard on the bowlers,” Thakur said. “But you have to understand that cricket is moving in a certain direction where 200+ scores are becoming more common. It’s easy to sit in a studio and comment on someone’s bowling, but they don’t see the real picture out there on the ground. I’m sure they should look at their own stats before criticising anyone,” he added.

Thakur defended his team’s ability to defend totals, citing two successful instances where LSG held on to wins despite the high-scoring trend. “Credit to us that we’ve defended scores on two occasions… It was about holding our nerve till the end and believing in ourselves,” he explained.

LSG currently sits third in the IPL standings with four wins from six matches. Despite the absence of an overseas bowler, their bowling attack, led by Thakur’s strong performance, has consistently proven its mettle.
