Sun Apr 13 15:09:40 UTC 2025: ## Temple Priest Assaulted by Mob, MLA’s Son Allegedly Involved

**Dewas, Madhya Pradesh:** A priest at the Mata Tekri temple in Dewas was allegedly assaulted by a group of around 30 people, including the son of a BJP MLA, after they were refused entry after closing hours on Friday.

The incident, captured on video, shows vehicles with red beacons parked outside the temple as a heated argument ensues at the gate. Updesh Nath, son of the assaulted priest, stated that the group, arriving after midnight, forcibly entered the temple, pushing and threatening him before assaulting him.

While a case has been registered against Jeetu Raghuvanshi, who has several prior criminal cases, the FIR notably omits the name of Rudraksh Shukla, son of BJP MLA Golu Shukla, despite his alleged presence in the video footage. Congress has criticized this omission, demanding strict action and equal application of the law.

City Congress President Manoj Rajani stated, “This is unacceptable. Such incidents in places of worship should not be ignored. The law should apply to everyone equally.”

Dewas CSP Vishesh Agrawal confirmed that Raghuvanshi has multiple criminal cases and that 10-12 vehicles and numerous individuals were involved in the forced entry and assault. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage and investigating Rudraksh Shukla’s involvement.

MLA Golu Shukla issued an apology for the incident, stating, “This will not happen again.” However, the delay in including all alleged perpetrators in the FIR has raised concerns about potential influence and a lack of swift justice.
