Mon Apr 14 16:27:01 UTC 2025: **Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister Distributes Welfare Assistance, Oversees Desilting Projects**

**Salem, Tamil Nadu –** Tamil Nadu Tourism Minister R. Rajendran on Monday distributed over ₹13 crore in welfare assistance to 2,086 beneficiaries in Attur, Salem district. The distribution was part of an Equality Day function. Minister Rajendran also oversaw the commencement of desilting projects, with ₹2.20 crore allocated for the 2025-26 fiscal year to desilt 101.65 km of canals and water bodies across the district. These projects are expected to improve irrigation for hundreds of acres of farmland. The minister praised Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s efforts to uplift marginalized communities and ensure equitable development. The event was attended by District Collector R. Brindha Devi and local MPs. The minister also highlighted that over ₹6.74 crore in scholarships had been provided to Adi Dravidar and Scheduled Tribe students in the district over the past four years.
