Mon Apr 14 04:07:53 UTC 2025: ## Ousted Bangladesh Leader Hasina Accuses Interim Government of Conspiracy and Murder

**DHAKA, BANGLADESH** – Ousted Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched a scathing attack on the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, accusing him of orchestrating a foreign conspiracy to seize power. In an eight-minute virtual address to supporters on Sunday, Hasina, currently in exile in India, branded Yunus a “self-centered loan shark” and claimed the interim government is systematically dismantling Bangladesh’s history and institutions.

Hasina, facing an arrest warrant in Dhaka, reiterated her claims of a foreign conspiracy aimed at destroying Bangladesh. She accused Yunus of erasing the Awami League’s contributions to the country’s independence and of allowing the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami to engage in political violence and harassment. She cited the closure of thousands of factories and the destruction of infrastructure as evidence of economic sabotage under Yunus’s leadership.

A key focus of Hasina’s address was the death of student activist Abu Sayeed, who died during protests last year. While a UN report indicated Sayeed was a victim of extrajudicial killing by police, Hasina countered that he was killed by a rock thrown by protesters and that the use of 7.62 mm bullets cited in the report was part of a deliberate conspiracy. She accused Yunus of removing officials who attempted to investigate Sayeed’s death fairly. Hasina called for the exhumation of Sayeed’s body for a forensic examination.

Hasina’s accusations come amidst reports of increasing political instability in Bangladesh. The interim government’s handling of the situation has drawn criticism from various quarters. The exiled leader’s continued pronouncements, delivered through her party’s social media, are causing further tension, particularly given Dhaka’s efforts to secure her extradition. The Bangladeshi government has reportedly raised concerns about Hasina’s statements with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
