Mon Apr 14 00:10:00 UTC 2025: ## Top Greenland Space Base Commander Fired After Defying Trump’s Annexation Agenda

**WASHINGTON (AP) —** Col. Susan Meyers, commander of the U.S. Space Force’s Pituffik Space Base in Greenland, has been abruptly fired following a base-wide email that contradicted official messaging in the wake of Vice President JD Vance’s visit. The Space Force cited a “loss of confidence” in her leadership, stating that commanders must maintain non-partisanship.

Meyers’ email, confirmed by a U.S. official, reportedly defended the base’s relationship with Denmark and Greenland after Vance’s late March visit. This visit, part of President Donald Trump’s push to annex Greenland, sparked significant tension between the U.S. and Denmark. Trump has openly considered using military force to achieve annexation, framing it as a national security imperative.

Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell, in a post on X, linked to a Military.com report detailing the email and stated that actions undermining the chain of command or President Trump’s agenda would not be tolerated.

Meyers’ dismissal is the latest in a string of high-profile firings of senior military leaders, notably several women. The Trump administration has previously removed Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Lisa Franchetti, U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Linda Fagan, and U.S. Navy Vice Adm. Shoshana Chatfield, along with Gen. CQ Brown Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Gen. Tim Haugh, commander of U.S. Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency. The firings have raised concerns about the administration’s approach to military leadership.
