Sun Apr 13 17:18:55 UTC 2025: ## Mayawati Forgives Rebel Nephew, But Not Father-in-Law, Rules Out Succession

**Lucknow, India** – Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has announced she has forgiven her nephew, Akash Anand, for his recent rebellion against the party. However, she has emphatically ruled out his succession as her political heir and has refused to reinstate his father-in-law, Ashok Siddharth.

Anand, who was expelled from the BSP last month for insubordination and actions deemed influenced by Siddharth, issued a public apology on X (formerly Twitter) today. He expressed remorse for his mistakes and pledged to sever ties with his father-in-law’s political advice. Mayawati accepted his apology, stating that Anand had contacted her repeatedly expressing regret and a commitment to avoiding future transgressions.

Despite forgiving Anand, Mayawati remained steadfast in her refusal to pardon Siddharth, who she blames for Anand’s actions and accuses of anti-party activities and factionalism. Mayawati characterized Siddharth’s behavior as “unforgivable” and stated that his reinstatement was not a possibility.

In a series of posts on X, Mayawati also addressed concerns about her succession, stating her continued commitment to the BSP and her robust health. She unequivocally declared that she has no intention of appointing a successor at this time.

This development concludes a tumultuous period for the BSP, following Anand’s expulsion and earlier removal from key party positions last year. While Mayawati has shown leniency towards her nephew, her firm stance against his father-in-law underscores the seriousness with which she views party loyalty and discipline.
