Mon Apr 14 13:10:00 UTC 2025: ## HBO’s Harry Potter Series Casts Quirrell, Filch, and More Key Roles
**London, UK** – HBO’s highly anticipated Harry Potter television series continues to fill out its cast with a mix of established and rising stars. The network announced today that Luke Thallon will portray Professor Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse will play Argus Filch.
Thallon, a rising star from the British stage, will take on the complex role of the nervous Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, previously played by Ian Hart in the film adaptation. Whitehouse, a veteran British actor and comedian with credits including *The Fast Show* and *The Corpse Bride*, will embody the villainous Filch, a role originated by David Bradley in the films.
These castings join previously announced additions to the ensemble, including John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid. The series, executive produced by J.K. Rowling, is described as a “faithful adaptation” of the books.
While the core trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione remain uncast, the series is generating considerable excitement. Showrunner Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Mylod expressed their delight at assembling such a talented cast. A premiere date for the series has yet to be announced.
