Mon Apr 14 13:28:29 UTC 2025: ## Greek Police Investigate Hardline Group’s Claim to Athens Bombings
**ATHENS, GREECE** – Greek authorities are investigating a claim by a hardline group, Revolutionary Class Struggle, that it is responsible for two bomb attacks in Athens. The group, in a statement posted online, claimed responsibility for a blast near the offices of Hellenic Train last week and a previous attack at the Labour Ministry in 2024. Both attacks were preceded by warnings, resulting in no injuries.
The group dedicated the attacks to “the Palestinian people and their heroic resistance,” linking the actions to protests over the deadly 2023 Tempi train crash, which killed 57 people. Revolutionary Class Struggle blamed Hellenic Train, a subsidiary of Italy’s Ferrovie dello Stato, for the crash, calling the subsequent demonstrations against “state capitalist crime” and drawing parallels to the conflict in Gaza.
Police spokeswoman Constantina Dimoglidou confirmed the investigation, stating that authorities are examining the group’s statement and investigating possible links to past incidents. While the investigation is in its early stages, the claim is being treated with “great attention.”
The 2023 Tempi train crash, attributed to chronic safety deficiencies by Greece’s Air and Rail Accident Investigation Authority (HARSIA), has sparked widespread outrage and ongoing investigations. The resignation of HARSIA head Christos Papadimitriou this week is expected to further complicate efforts to fully understand the disaster. A judicial investigation is underway and expected to conclude this year.
