KURNOOL, Andhra Pradesh – The Andhra Pradesh government pledged its support for women entrepreneurs, particularly in the burgeoning millet-based food processing industry. This commitment was announced by Industries and Commerce Minister T.G. Bharath at the closing ceremony of “pauSHEtik,” a women’s entrepreneurship development program held in Kurnool.

The program, a collaboration between the Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs of India (COWE), Andhra Pradesh Chapter, and the Australian Consulate-General in Chennai, trained women in millet baking. Minister Bharath highlighted the availability of land in the Orvakal Industrial Area for women entrepreneurs who submit detailed project reports (DPRs) for food processing ventures. He emphasized the importance of women’s financial independence and announced plans for a dedicated food park in Kurnool to support this initiative.

The Australian Consul-General in Chennai, Silai Zaki, expressed enthusiasm about the program’s potential, noting the possibility of exporting millet products to Australia under a free trade agreement. COWE officials underscored the program’s aim to improve family health through increased millet consumption and empower women financially. The program saw participation from women across Kurnool, Yemmiganur, and Pathikonda. The initiative aims to foster self-reliance among women through skill development, awareness programs, and access to bank loans.
