**CINCINNATI, OH** – The Cincinnati Reds marked the 78th anniversary of Jackie Robinson breaking baseball’s color barrier with a day of events at the P&G MLB Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy. The celebration included the annual Joe Morgan Classic, a baseball game between Wilberforce University and Dillard University, both Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Players wore authentic Negro League uniforms, with Dillard emerging victorious, 19-14.
The festivities also featured the Skyline Chili Reds Futures High Showcase, where Cincinnati Public Schools baseball and softball teams competed. Several games were played, highlighting the spirit of competition and sportsmanship. The day concluded with an HBCU College Fair, providing local students with information on ten different Historically Black Colleges and Universities. The Reds’ multifaceted celebration honored Robinson’s legacy and promoted opportunities for youth in the community.
