Sun Apr 13 17:09:33 UTC 2025: ## Bangladesh Court Issues Arrest Warrants for Ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Others

**DHAKA, BANGLADESH –** A Bangladeshi court issued arrest warrants on Sunday for ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, British MP Tulip Rizwana Siddiq, and 50 others. The warrants stem from three separate chargesheets filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) alleging illegal land acquisition through abuse of political power.

The charges relate to the allocation of plots in the Purbachal New Town Project. The ACC alleges that Hasina, Rehana, and Siddiq, along with numerous others, acquired land illegally. Separate cases target individual family members, with charges against Azmina Siddiq and Radwan Mujib Siddiq also included.

Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Zakir Hossain issued the warrants after reviewing the chargesheets. A review of the arrest order execution is scheduled for April 27th. All 53 accused are reportedly absconding. This is not the first time Hasina has faced arrest warrants; on April 10th, warrants were issued against her, her daughter, and 17 others in a separate corruption case. Hasina, who has been living in India since the toppling of her government in August 2024 following a student-led uprising, also faces additional charges including mass murder, crimes against humanity, and enforced disappearances.
