Sun Apr 13 18:50:00 UTC 2025: ## Masters Practice Round Cancelled Due to Severe Weather

**Augusta, GA** – Heavy rain and the threat of flash flooding forced Augusta National Golf Club to cancel Monday’s practice round for the 89th Masters Tournament. The course was evacuated mid-morning after a suspension of play, with officials announcing no reopening later in the afternoon.

Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley stated that the safety of patrons was the top priority in making the decision. Ticket holders for Monday’s practice round will receive full refunds in May and will be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase tickets for the 2026 practice round. Ridley expressed disappointment but emphasized the club’s commitment to the safety of all attendees and looked forward to a successful Masters Tournament this week.

The cancellation followed a Sunday night and Monday FIRST ALERT issued by News 12 meteorologists warning of flash flood risks and potential severe thunderstorms for the Central Savannah River Area (CSRA). While patrons were initially allowed entry at 8 a.m., worsening conditions led to the course closure. Fortunately, many players were able to practice on Sunday following the Drive, Chip and Put National Finals.
