**Tuscaloosa, AL** – Alabama’s men’s basketball team will be without one of its highest-ranked recruits for the 2025-26 season. Forward Derrion Reid, a former McDonald’s All-American, has announced his intention to enter the transfer portal, according to On3.

Reid, ranked as the second-highest all-time recruit for the Crimson Tide behind only Colin Sexton, was a highly touted prospect during Coach Nate Oats’ tenure. His freshman season was hampered by injuries, limiting his playing time. While he averaged 6.0 points and 2.8 rebounds over 24 games, his impact was lessened by his time on the sidelines.

Reid’s departure adds to Alabama’s frontcourt losses, following Mouhamed Dioubate, Jarin Stevenson (both to the transfer portal), and Grant Nelson (eligibility expired).
