Mon Apr 14 05:47:39 UTC 2025: ## 4.5 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Myanmar; India Continues Aid Efforts

**Yangon, Myanmar –** A 4.5 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 1:32:31 IST, according to the National Center for Seismology (NCS). The quake, which occurred at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers, was centered at 19.78 N latitude and 95.49 E longitude. The shallow depth increases the risk of aftershocks.

This latest tremor follows a devastating 7.7 magnitude earthquake that hit the country on March 28th. In response to the ongoing crisis, India continues to provide substantial humanitarian assistance under Operation Brahma.

A team of specialist Indian Army engineers, deployed since April 6th, has been assessing earthquake-damaged infrastructure in Mandalay and Naypyitaw. The team, which includes safety and demolition experts, has already assisted Myanmar authorities in evaluating the Old Ava railway bridge in Mandalay. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar reported that the team is conducting a comprehensive assessment to aid relief and reconstruction efforts.

Beyond engineering support, India has also provided direct aid to affected communities. The Indian Embassy in Myanmar delivered 15 tonnes of rice, cooking oil, and other foodstuffs to a local relief group, while the Consulate General in Mandalay donated a generator, water purifier, and cooking oil to a temple kitchen feeding 4,000 people daily. This aid demonstrates India’s commitment to supporting Myanmar during this difficult time.
