Sat Apr 12 18:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Teenage IPL Star Holds His Own Against Archer in Nets Session
**Jaipur, India** – Fourteen-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, a record-breaking INR 1.10 crore purchase by the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2025 mega auction, is making waves even before making his IPL debut. A recent nets session saw the young left-handed batsman facing off against England fast bowler Jofra Archer, and the results were impressive.
Video footage released by the Rajasthan Royals on X shows Suryavanshi confidently playing a range of shots, including cuts and pulls, against Archer’s fiery pace. Archer, who recently dismissed Shubman Gill, managed to beat Suryavanshi only once during the session. The youngster’s pick-up shot off his pads was a particular highlight.
South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi lauded the encounter, suggesting that the IPL’s exposure is building confidence in young Indian players facing international-level bowlers. He tweeted that the experience would alleviate any worries Suryavanshi might have playing for India in the future.
Suryavanshi’s performance comes as the Rajasthan Royals, currently seventh in the IPL 2025 standings with four points from five matches, prepare for their next game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in Jaipur. The team recently overcame the absence of captain Sanju Samson, who was initially unavailable due to wicketkeeping clearance issues. Samson has since returned to lead the side.
