**Mysuru, April 13, 2025** – The Karnataka Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports will conduct special selection camps across the state from April 15th to 17th to identify talented rural athletes for admission to its sports residential schools and hostels for the 2025-26 academic year. These camps are open to students who haven’t participated in regular selection camps, as well as those who weren’t previously selected at the state level. However, those who previously participated must specify this on their application.

The camps will be held at various locations including Chamundi Vihar Stadium in Mysuru (hockey), Kantirava Stadium in Bengaluru (athletics, basketball, volleyball, fencing, and archery), and district stadiums across the state for other sports. Specific locations and dates for other sports include: Dharwad (April 15th – athletics, basketball, volleyball), Kalaburagi (April 17th – athletics and volleyball), Bidar (April 17th – cycling), Davanagere (April 15th – kusti and wrestling), Hassan (April 15th – football), Ballari (April 17th – football), Gadag (April 17th – hockey), Tumakuru (April 15th – gymnastics), Belagavi (April 15th – judo), and Chikkamagaluru (April 17th – judo).

The department operates two sports residential schools and 32 hostels, offering free meals, accommodation, training, equipment, and tournament allowances to selected students in 5th, 8th, and 1st PUC (Pre-University Course). Many past participants have gone on to excel nationally and internationally, securing government jobs in various departments.

Age limits apply: candidates for 8th grade must be under 14 as of June 2025 and currently in 7th grade, while those for 1st PUC must be under 18 as of June 2025.
